In July this year, we welcomed Jenni Ramsey to the Lindsay & Lang team.
As our Business Support Administrator, Jenni began making an impact straight away, supporting all areas of the company so that we can continue to deliver the best possible service for our clients.
Jenni has held different roles throughout her career including office junior for a structural engineering company, a graduate trainee within an oil company’s IT department which led to an IT career spanning over 11 years with organisations in Aberdeen, and most recently raising her now 11-year-old daughter.
In between her daily tasks, we grabbed Jenni for a quick chat to learn more about how she’s finding life at Lindsay & Lang, her hobbies outside of office hours, and how she became a green North Sea Tiger.
So Jenni, what brought you to Lindsay & Lang?
“A friend I had worked with previously noticed an advert on LinkedIn for Lindsay & Lang who were looking for someone to provide Business Support and Administration. Along with many other things, a flexible role with a new company and the opportunities this can bring was very appealing, and I am delighted to begin the next phase of my working life here.”
And how do you like it so far?
“I love it. The role is varied and interesting, and I love that the work we do can make a real difference to someone’s wellbeing. On a personal level, it’s fantastic to have the flexibility to fit working hours around the other demands on my time. For example, working from home means, I can be at my desk just after our daughter leaves for school.”
How do you relax and unwind after a hard day’s work?
“I love to run, cycle and do some HIIT classes too. Apart from the physical benefits of feeling fit and strong, exercise helps me maintain a healthy and happy mind. Any worries can often be made to feel better with the help of a sanity run! We have a dog too, so there are plenty of walking opportunities to be had. We live in a beautiful town and walk down by the beach and harbour almost daily.
“Interior design became an interest when I bought my first property aged 24. I finally had free reign to decorate how I pleased and have become a dab hand with a paintbrush over the years! Together with my husband, who enjoys DIY, we have renovated and revamped five properties, with our current house being our ‘forever home’. We bought it seven years ago and thought it would take about two years to finish, but we still have two rooms to do!”
Wow – it seems like you’re always on the go! Anything we’d be surprised to find out about you?
“Some of my IT projects included working offshore, and during my first two-week trip, my newly highlighted hair gradually turned green due to the chlorine in the water. One of many rookie mistakes, I wasn’t cut out to be a North Sea Tiger! Many years later, however, I am so glad to have had the chance to experience the environment and working life offshore.”
